Joseph Marino - Obituary

n Saturday, June 18, 2011, the beloved husband of Mary Anne Collins Marino; devoted father of Patricia Jean (Jack) Royak, Mary Anne (John) Matsko, Joseph Vincent, Jr. and Robert Peter (Lance Alworth, Jr.) Marino; loving grandfather of Joseph Raymond and Tristan James Marino, John Robert Royak and John Michael Matsko; son of the late Peter and Angelina Giovinazzo Marino; brother of Theresa Busada; uncle of Susan, Robin, Dana, Randy and Laura. Joe was a member of the first graduating class of Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington D.C. in 1955. He served as president of the Buckley Club ( the largest Catholic teen club) from 1954-55. He was a member of the D.C. Air National Guard. He was married to Mary Anne for 53 years. He worked for Metropolitan Life for over 45 years and as his children grew was an active member of the community including serving as President of the Friendly H.S. Booster Club. Joe was named “ Insurance Man of the Year” by his peers in Prince George’s County. Family and friends are invited to Joe's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd. Oxon Hill, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 24 at 10am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill MD. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
