Joseph T. Valonis - Obituary

oseph Thomas “Joe” Valonis, 86, a 27-year resident of Annapolis and previously of New Carrollton, MD, passed away on November 18, 2022 at Spring Arbor of Crofton Senior Living. Born on July 24, 1936 in Dickson City, PA to the late Charles and Julia Valonis, Joe graduated from Dickson City High School in 1954, then joined the U.S. Air Force where he served his country for 4 years. Following his discharge, Joe was accepted into the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania and graduated in 1962. He once again chose service to his country as a Federal employee at the U.S. General Accounting Office where he enjoyed a 31-year career until his retirement in 1993. Joe enjoyed most sports and played softball until he was 80 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Annapolis and also enjoyed traveling. He and his wife, Roberta, visited all seven continents. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Valonis; two sisters, Eleanor Valonis, Joan Wrabel and her husband, Paul; and brother-in-law, Martin Padden. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Roberta Valonis; one brother, Gerald Valonis and his wife Ann of Dickson City, PA; and three sisters, Dolores Padden of Olyphant, PA, Teresa Greening and her husband, Norton of Voorhees, NJ, and Geraldine Nish and her husband, Peter of Scotrun, PA.
