oseph Gilbert Zindorf “Gil”, 87, of Arnold, MD died on Monday, July 8 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on January 24, 1937 in Annapolis, MD to the late Oscar and Marian Zindorf, Gil graduated from Annapolis High School and Anne Arundel Community College with a degree in engineering. He proudly served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Private Second Class. He worked in the engineering field for over 30 years, eventually becoming a Test Engineer Manager for Gould Corporation. Gil spent his free time fishing and traveling with his wife, Karen. They enjoyed many wonderful trips to Myrtle Beach. He also liked to research the Zindorf family ancestry and share his discoveries with his family and friends. Gil always looked forward to Game Days to watch his favorite teams- the Ravens and the Orioles and he also looked forward to family gatherings. Gil is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karen Zindorf; his four daughters, Dawn Dudley, Trinda Bees, Karen Zindorf and Diane Crosby all of whom live in the area; his two sons, Brian Oleary of WV and Timothy Oleary of Baltimore, MD; his sister, Jean Hott of Millersville, MD and his 4 granddaughters, 8 grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren. Gil’s kind heart and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends are invited to celebrate Gil’s life on Tuesday, July 16 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in memory of Gil, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
