Oct 7, 1923 - May 4, 2016
n Wednesday, May 4, 2016; beloved wife of Arthur Terry; mother of Jo-Ann Terry Butler; Artie Terry and Arlene Bloom. Josephine Terry, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. Josephine was a Devout Catholic and long time member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. She prayed the rosary every day and asked God to bestow his blessing for everyone on her list, and she said it was a long list. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and always had her precious "Angel" smile for you whenever she saw you. Josephine met Arthur when they were teenagers and were married on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944. They just celebrated their 72nd Anniversary. They were totally devoted to each other, always. She is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, sisters Vivian Garfi, and Alfie Dondiego. She adored her children, Arlene (Larry deceased) Bloom, Jo Ann (Bob) Butler, Artie (Sudie) Terry; her 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. When Josephine and Arthur moved south to Maryland from Brooklyn, New York, she always said she thought she would be lonely and then when she would look at all her family, she would laugh and say she would never have believed that they had created all of this. She loved to sing, dance and party with friends and family. She also looked forward to family adventures, always accepting a challenge. She always led us in songs when we were heading for an adventure. Josephine worked in her younger days as a designer and seamstress for Bergdorf Goodman, New York. Later she worked as an assistant manager and sales representative for Burlington Coat Factory where she worked until she was 75 years young. Josephine was constantly on the go, never staying still. Her family called her "The Energizer Bunny". She always said she was a worker, not a walker. The family always laughed as they remembered how she always loved to rake rocks on the beach of their summer home on Kerr Lake, so her beach would be smooth, and not rocky. She loved to visit Disney World every year and they did this trip far into their 80's. The family fondly remembers the many holidays , especially Christmas Eve, standing around the piano singing Christmas carols with mom leading us all in song. Josephine lived a good life and just wanted to go home. She went home to the Lord on May 4th 2016. Yes, mom did it her way....May she rest in peace.
