Joy Ymzon Ricasa - Obituary

osefina "Joy" Ymzon Ricasa, born in Manila, Philippines on December 16, 1950, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2018 in Clinton, Maryland surrounded by her loving family. She graduated from the Philippine College of Commerce with a degree in Business Management. In February of 1976, she immigrated to the United States and worked at the Brookings Institute for over 20 years. Joy loved to dance. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Philippines, and going on cruises. She especially adored spending time with family and being surrounded by all of her grandnieces and grandnephews. Joy is preceded in death by her parents Marcelino "Marc" Ricasa and Eduarda "Nellie" Ricasa. She is survived by her siblings Myrna (Mel-✟) Geronimo, Marcelino "Ricky Bhoy" (Lenny) Ricasa, Nonette (Bing) Bustamante, Severo "Roy" (Letty) Ricasa, Mary Ann (Charlie) King, Jesus Edmar (Rosalie) Ricasa, her half-siblings, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends are invited to celebrate Joy's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745 on Tuesday, October 23 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8908 Old Branch Avenue, Clinton, MD 20735 on Wednesday, October 24 at 11 am. Interment will occur at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735 followed by a repast at St. John the Evangelist Church Hall.
