Joy A. Rolen - Obituary

oy Anne Rolen, 84, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, passed away on February 11, 2022, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Joy was born on February 27, 1937, in Annapolis, MD to the late Marvin and Rosa Ella Hardesty. Joy was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting, and gardening. Prior to raising her family, she worked for Nationwide Insurance Co. In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her four siblings: Jack Hardesty, Carroll Hardesty, Georgetta Monroe, and Peggy Turner. Joy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank W. Rolen; her children, Dawn Michele Ristaino (Peter) of Harwood, MD, Troy Wayne Rolen (Alison) of Moneta, VA, Stacey Ann Cole (James) of Davidsonville, MD, and Todd William Rolen (Regina) of Huntingtown, MD. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Austin Rolen, Maria Contreras, Kimberly Rolen, Matthew Rolen, Luke Rolen, Erica Beans, Megan Cole, Zachary Cole, Maxwell Cole, Logan Cole, Hunter Cole, Mia Cole, and Sara Rolen, and 7 great-grandchildren: Bentley, Milo, Jensen, Remi, Ava, Ivey, and Tucker. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joy's life on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 12 pm until a funeral service begins at 1 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, Annapolis, MD. A complete obituary will be available soon.
