Joy Washington - Obituary

oy "Joyful" Lee Washington, 53, a 22-year resident of Edgewater and formerly of Pennsylvania, March 5 at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center after a 10 year illness. Mrs. Washington was born April 7, 1954, in Pennsylvania to Carl and Betty Simpson of Wilmington, Del. She earned a bachelor's degree in equestrian science from William Woods College in 1976. She was employed as a medicine aide at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Harvest Church of God in Edgewater for 15 years. Mrs. Washington loved Bon Jovi music. She was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Claude A. Washington Jr. Survivors include one son, Devon L. Washington of Edgewater; and one sister, Carol Neidigh of Phoenix. Family and friends may join in the celebration of her life from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow at New Journey's Community Church, 10 South River Clubhouse Road in Edgewater. Funeral services will follow at noon. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home.
