Joyce Sigmon Deppe - Obituary

oyce Deppe, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on 26 December at the age of 90. She was born in Washington, DC on 16 January, 1931 and remained a life long resident of the DMV area. She graduated from Eastern High School in NE Washington, DC in January, 1949. Married to Raymond Webster Deppe, Jr on 30 September, 1950, she worked as a secretary for the DC Board of Education from 1949-1951 and for DC Public Schools from 1955-1959. After being a stay-at-home Mom until 1982, she returned to the work force as a Circulation Assistant in the Prince George's County Library System retiring after over 17 years of service. The third of six children born to Bergon and Martha Sigmon, she took her place in the Sigmon family roll call of Charlotte, Clara, Joyce, Elbert, Doris and Elouise. She is survived by sisters Clara Manning and Elouise Mathews, children Alice, Charles (Kathy) and Thomas, grandson Kyle and numerous nieces and nephews. She is remembered as a kind and gentle spirit, a wonderfully supportive Mom and a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Washington, MD.
