oyce Noreen Gering, 71, a resident of Annapolis, MD for five years and previously of Tucson, AZ, died of pneumonia on Tuesday, January 27 at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Born on June 28, 1944 in Randolph, VT to the late Joseph and Rita Coffman, Joyce earned her nursing degree from the St. Agnes School of Nursing and her master's of science degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her career was spent as an adult and women's health nurse practitioner with an emphasis on women's health among teens and young adults. Joyce was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis. She is survived by her husband, Michael Gering, whom she married on December 8, 1982; her children, Gregory and Kyran Basiliko and Lauren Ellwood; stepchildren, Patrick and Michael Gering, Jr., Virginia Rubin, Heather Kelley and Nance Lozeau and siblings, William, John and Marian Coffman. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends are invited to celebrate Joyce's life from 3 to 6pm on Tuesday, February 2 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am on Wednesday, February 3 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
