Joyce P. Scanlon - Obituary

oyce Pendleton Scanlon, 80, a 49 year resident of Edgewater and previously of Greenbelt, MD passed away on August 9, 2020 after a ten month battle with cancer. Joyce was born on January 1, 1940 in Cumberland, MD to the late Walter and Mary Pendleton. She was a 1958 graduate of High Point High School in Greenbelt. For more than 40 years Joyce worked as a real estate agent and most of that time was with Long and Foster. She loved the mountains and spending time with family and friends near and far. Joyce also loved the thrill of casinos, but only if she won! In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Steven Holloway; her siblings, Eileen Gatton and Daniel and Keith Pendleton. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, John Scanlon; her sons, William Holloway of Chester, and Daniel Scanlon of Edgewater; her daughters, Kathy Egeli of Staunton, VA, Mary Symanski of Crofton and Bridget Scanlon of Lothian; her five grandchildren, Eric, Ethan and Emma Egeli, Will Holloway and Connor Symanski and her brother, John Pendleton of Frederick. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16 from 3 to 6 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater where her funeral service will be held on Monday August 17 at 1 pm.
