oyce L. Van Norman, 78, a resident of Edgewater, MD for six years and previously of Rockville, MD, died on Saturday, January 14 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born on January 1, 1939 in Creighton, PA to the late Bryant and Rose Maslowsky, Joyce briefly worked as a secretary but was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater and a member of the Sodality at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Rockville. Joyce enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Van Norman and her daughter, Mae Blake.
She is survived by her children, Joe and Jamie (Karin) Van Norman both of Williston, FL, Laura (Jack) Bisnett of Moneta, VA, Jodie (Frank) Kans of Edgewater, Jeanine (Nick) Ritz of Virginia Beach, VA and Janel (Joe) Giambrone of Aldie, VA; her sisters, Michelle Casavale of Pittsburgh, PA and Myra Maslowsky of Creighton, PA, she is also survived by 32 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to celebrate Joyce's life on Friday, January 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 21 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
