uan Francisco DeLano, 78, beloved father of DeNita DeLano, Antoinette DeLano-Blyther, and James Anthony Reid, Sr, departed this world at his home the morning of August 25, 2015 after a long illness, surrounded by family,
Born July 15, 1937 in Washington, DC, Mr. DeLano had a 30 year career as a Facilities Management Supervisor at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. After he retired from "the Gallery" in 1997, he worked several years at his "hangout spot", Parker Norris Laundromat in Hillcrest Heights, MD.
While Daddy loved to work, his true passion was for his family and music. He relished his role as grandfather to his four grandchildren Antoine Tyree DeLano, Trevoir Dion Forrester II, Chané Marie Blyther, and James Anthony Reid, Jr. From them he learned to master Wii bowling while he shared with them his love of musicians Peter Tosh, Tracy Chapman, and Bob Marley.
In addition to his children and grandchildren Mr. DeLano is survived by son-in-law Anthony Venuto and daughter-in-law May Turner Reid. He is preceded in death by son-in-law Calvin Blyther, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to Juan's Celebration of Life on Wednesday September 9, 2015 from 10am until 12noon. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill RD, Oxon Hill MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the Children's Nation Medical Center, located in Washington, DC.
