uanita Jaworski was born on Aug 4, 1926 in St Louis, Missouri to immigrant parents Joseph and Maria Matons, the middle of three children. When the Great Depression hit, the family returned to Spain, living in the Catlan region in Montgat outside Barcelona. The family re-immigrated to the New York City when the Spanish Civil War started. She met Anthony (Tony) Jaworski in High School, and married him on April 22, 1951 after he completed four years in the Navy serving on the submarine USS Diablo, and moved to Long Island. She worked in Woolworths and later as a secretary. They had three children, Theresa, Steven, and Ann Marie. Tony worked for 20 years as a New York City Policeman while Juanita stayed home with the children. Tony completed a degree in night school at CCNY and worked for the Department of Defense managing strategic supplies (metals, rare earths etc.). Starting when her youngest child was in high school, Juanita worked as a administrative assistant for the Nassau County Police for ten years. She was involved with Senior Citizens activities at St Gregory the Great Church in Bellrose NY and St Hedwigs Church in Floral Park NY and was a member of Bellrose Terrace Civic Association. In retirement, Tony and Juantia travelled widely visiting Greece, Israel, Spain, Fatima, Switzerland, Alaska, Medjugorje and visited many US National Parks. Finally selling their home of many years, they were founding members of Bright View Senior Living in Annapolis MD. Juanita is survived by her children Theresa (Mark) Mulligan, Steven (Stephanie) Jaworski, and Ann Marie Jaworski; three grandchildren: Joan Sullivan, Thomas Mulligan, and Nicholas Jaworski; and four great grandchildren: Elizabeth Sullivan, Mark Sullivan, Jude Mulligan, and Noah Mulligan. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Juanita's life on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment will follow at St. Margaret's Church Cemetery, Annapolis, MD
