Judith E. Morrissette - Obituary

t is with deep sadness and much love that the family announces the passing of Judith '"Judy" Morrissette, 85, of Edgewater MD, on July 17th. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of 5 and friend, who filled the the lives of those around her with warmth and kindness. Born on December 26, 1940, in Fort Howard, MD. She was the youngest of four children born to John Milard and Gertrude Catherine Yeager. As a young girl Judy lived near Sparrows Point in Baltimore and enjoyed the Chesapeake Bay and weekend crab feasts with family and friends. In her teenage years her father's business took her to Kaiserslautern Germany, or "K-Town" which it became known as for the many Americans living there. It was there she enjoyed being on the High School Cheerleading Squad and touring Europе. Judy started her family in Springfield, VA which is where she also met the love of her life Donald "Don" Morrissette. She worked as an insurance adjuster for USAA. They were raising four children which involved many Friday nights when high school kids would spontaneously gather at their house to enjoy a movie on the new Betamax machine, for those who remember what they were. After their children graduated and moved away, Judy and Don left Northern VA for Annapolis, MD. There they enjoyed many weekends on their boat 'Just For Fun' with their Children and Grandchildren. This is also the place where Judy could host her legendary family Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings that their Children and Grandchildren will never forget. Judy and Don traveled all over the world, from Singapore and Peru to Egypt and Russia. Their favorite place, however, where they visited every year for 50 years was Maui, Hawaii. Maui was a great setting for Judy's beloved hobby of photography, which is evident by her voluminous collection of photo books she made over the years. Judy is survived by her Husband, Don, her Sister, Janet Weese her Children Guy Wallace, Scott Wallace (Mary), Kim Brinkley (Ed), Jay Morrissette (Jennifer) and her cherished Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Judy’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD on Thursday, August 13 from 1 to 3 and from 6 to 8 pm. At a later date, Judy’s remains will be spread in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of her beloved Maui.
