Julia Bauer - Obituary

ulia Goulart Bauer On 12 December 2014, Julia Goulart (Ferreira) Bauer passed away at her home in Huntingtown, Maryland. Julia was born on May 8, 1924, in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Emerenciana Goulart Ferreira and George Enos Ferreira. At the age of 19 she married and relocated with her late husband Joseph Charles Bauer, Sr. to Washington, DC. She was the loving mother of Joseph Charles Bauer, Jr., Mary Frances (Frannie) Bauer-Fletcher (Norman) and Frederick William Bauer (Kathie), grandmother of Joseph Charles Bauer III, Jason Emory Moreland, Frederick Daniel Bauer, John Robert Bauer and Kiley Marie Bauer. She had three great grandchildren, Jessica Bauer, Joseph Charles Bauer IV, and Elyssa Ann Moreland Clark. Julia was the oldest of five siblings, Carolina Fraley, George Ferreira, Manuel Ferreira and Robert Ferreira. She worked alongside her husband in their family plumbing business as the secretary/treasurer for over 40 years. Julia was an extremely talented and creative painter, seamstress and quilter. She will be lovingly missed by her family and the many friends she has made throughout her life. In Gratitude, Julia’s family would like to thank her caregivers of many years, Gussie Griffin, Daisy and Wendy Hawkins, for their unselfish devotion to her, to Calvert Hospice, St. Anthony of Padua‘s parish and parishioners who delivered communion to her on a regular basis and for all of those who prayed and helped in so many ways in her and our time of need. Friends are invited to Julia's Life Celebration on Wednesday, December 17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18 at 11am. Interment Cedar Hill, Suitland, MD. Following the funeral service, the family invites guests to NEELD ESTATE’S Hilltop House on Shore Drive in Huntingtown, MD 20639.
