aren Theresa Donohoe, 56, a 25-year resident of Edgewater, died on July 11 at her sister’s home after a 20-month battle with cancer. Known by her niece and nephew as “Aunt Goofy”, Karen was born on July 16, 1957 in Washington, DC to the late James and Edith Donohoe. After graduating from Immaculate Conception Academy in Washington, DC, Karen worked as a Support Officer for the CIA where she received numerous awards. She enjoyed animals, gardening, hummingbirds, reading, collecting seashells, shopping, Bruce Springsteen’s music, watching the Dr. Oz and Ellen shows, and drinking Chick-Fil-A Unsweet Tea.
Karen is survived by her brother, James M. (Nancy) Donohoe of Shallotte, NC; two sisters, Kathleen C. (Bill) Sheets of Woodbridge, VA and Deborah Ann(Barry) Owings of Edgewater; one nephew, Clayton J. Sheets; one niece, Melanie C. Sheets and one great niece, Aubrie M. Badura.
Friends are invited to Karen’s Life Celebration from 12 noon until her funeral service begins at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment will be private.
