Katharina Koster - Obituary

atharina Koster "Katie", a 19-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Ormond Beach, FL, died on February 17, 2016. She was 107 years old. Born on August 27, 1908 in Bischofsheim, Germany to the late Maria and Heinrich Klug, Katie emigrated to America on October 1, 1928 aboard the German liner, Bremen. Upon arriving in America, Katie lived and worked on her aunt's 80 acre farm in Hyattsville, MD. During her voyage to America, she had met her future husband, Alfred Koster, they stayed in touch and were married in 1932. That same year they bought their first bakery shop. After owning and operating bakeries for thirty years, she and Alfred sold their business and moved to Ormond Beach, FL. After Alfred died in 1987, Katie moved to Edgewater, MD to live with her son and his wife. She is survived by her son, Horst W. Koster of Edgewater, MD and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
