atherine Mary Callender,99, of Edgewater, MD. passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2021 surrounded by family. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Katherine was a graduate of Eastern High School, College of Notre Dame, and held two Masters Degrees from Johns Hopkins University. She was a long-time teacher at St. Mary’s School in Baltimore, MD. She was also a proud American Red Cross volunteer during World War Two and a recipient of a special Red Cross recognition award for her efforts during the war. Her favorite things to do were spending time with family, photography, and painting.
Katherine is survived by her two sons, Charles William Callender, Jr. (Selbyville, Delaware) and Carl Thomas Callender (Kingston, Washington), and her daughter, Linda Carol Donahue (Edgewater, Maryland). Katherine is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her husband of 66 years, Charles William Callender, Sr. passed away in 2006.
Funeral services and burial at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville are private and a memorial celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
