Katherine Neal - Obituary

atherine M. Neal of Fort Washington, MD, passed away on September 5, 2013 peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family members. Katherine was born in Augusta, GA on September 12, 1933 to the late Houston Jordan and Edna Mae McCrary. Katherine was educated in the North Carolina Public School System and received her Bachelor of Education Degree from North Carolina Central University. Katherine worked as an educator in the Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County, VA Public School Systems until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, gardening and crossword puzzles. Katherine is survived by two children of the home, Wendell M. Neal, Jr. and Deidre L. Neal, one sister, Mary S. Bigelow, Burlington, NC, four brothers, Willie Shivers, Mannheim, Germany, Bennie Shivers, Overland Park, KS, Curtis Shivers, Temple Hill, MD, James Shivers, Burlington, NC and grandson, Jordan Aaron Gene Neal, Tacoma, WA, and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. We remember her keen intellect, quick wit, sense of humor and her love for family, children friends and animals, especially her beloved Pit Bull, Maxie.
