Katherine Willard - Obituary

atherine Amato Willard, 53, a 3-year resident of Galesville, MD and previously of Boonsboro, MD died July 29, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of breast cancer. Born January 26, 1959 in Washington, DC to Robert F. and Evelyn J. Amato, she attended Herbert Hoover Middle School, graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1977 and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from American University in 1981. Katherine was a self employed CPA and was a member of the Maryland Association of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and loved spending time with friends and family; especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Katherine is survived by her children, Michael of Easton, MD, Thomas of Green Castle, PA, Marius, Lukas, Timothy, Ugne, Anna and Melissa Willard, all of Middletown, MD and Jennifer Anderson and her husband, Chris, of Adamstown, MD. Also survived by two granddaughters, Chloe and Keira Anderson. Friends are invited to Katherine's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, August 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be held at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 5965 Deale Churchton Rd., Deale, MD on Thursday, August 2 at 11am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Katherine's name to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th floor, New York, NY 10022.
