Kathleen Fitzgerald Chapman - Obituary

athleen Fitzgerald Chapman, 69, a resident of Loganville, Georgia and previously of Bowie, MD, passed away on October 31, 2018 at Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Georgia. She was born on November 24, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to the late John and Dorothy O’ Donoghue Fitzgerald. Kathleen was a graduate of St. Cecilia Academy in Washington, D.C. Kathleen retired in December of 2017 from the Washington Hospital Center, as the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. During her 30 year tenure there, she held various positions with the hospital. She was a parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia and enjoyed reading, word games and spending time her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of Bobby J. Chapman in 1986. She is survived by her daughter Shirley K. Byrd (Bobby Hammond) of Loganville, Georgia, her siblings; Ellen Fitzgerald, Barbara Gray and her husband Steve, Shirley Byrd and her husband Rawley, Michal Fitzgerald and his wife Carol. Stephen Fitzgerald and his wife Linda, Kevin Fitzgerald and his wife Cindy and David Holt and Ed Holt, Jr. Also survived by her grandchildren Christiana, Victoria Byrd, and Walter Byrd, Jr., Bobby Hammond, Jr. and Kaylyn (Cameron Hood) Hammond and three great-grandchildren Emma, Kai and Tate. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathleen’s life on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2pm until a prayer service will begin at 4pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Burial will take place at a later date at St. St. William’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Ward, South Carolina.
