Kenneth Edward Backus - Obituary

enneth Edward Backus, 82 of Edgewater, MD passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022. Born and raised in Irondequoit, NY, Ken was the only child born to Clara and John Edward Backus. After attending Edison Technical High School, he joined the Navy to pursue his passion in printing as a “Seaman Lithographer Striker”. Ken then went on to have a successful career in printing, eventually owning his own business. Ken had many interests including travel, toy trains, toy soldiers, but his true passion was in “Brace Beagling”, a sport which he enjoyed for over 60 years. He received countless trophies and awards including the prestigious “Purina Award” for the “Outstanding Field Trial Brace Beagle” in 2013. Ken was predeceased by his previous wife Carol and son Edward. He is survived by his wife Michelle, children James (Donna), Kathy (Bob), Daughter-In-Law Debbie, step children Terry, Ray and Karen along with 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Ken was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world.
