enneth Warren Deans, 76, of Davidsonville, MD lost his battle with Parkinson’s Disease on January 6, 2026. Born on January 18, 1949 in Darby, PA to the Howard Deans and Marion Reeves Deans, Ken grew up in Secane, PA and was active member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church until he moved to Annapolis, MD. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1978. Ken spent his 41-year working career as a civilian employee for the Navy (Department of Defense), first at the former David Taylor Naval Surface Warfare Center in Annapolis followed by employment at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River (NAVAIR). The onset of Parkinson’s Disease caused him to retire in 2012. Ken was a man of many interests and talents. A voracious reader, he enjoyed learning about history, photography, science, and archaeology. The first thing he read every morning was his Bible. Ham radio was his cherished hobby from childhood through adulthood. He was a talented photographer and artist (drawing). He loved traveling, hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, and looking at his many boxes of beautiful slides and photos. He was very active in serving at the former Grace Lutheran Church in Bowie, MD. Over his life, he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served in many church positions. He will be missed for his dry sense of humor, kindness, and willingness to help anyone whenever he could. Ken was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marilyn; his children, Nathan and Anna of Davidsonville, MD; his baby granddaughter, Virginia Lynn of Davidsonville, MD; his brother, Robert Deans of Taunton, MA; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cosmo and Diane D’Orazio of Washington, PA; and his nephews, Brian D’Orazio of Pittsburgh, PA and Anthony (MyLinh) D’Orazio of Chicago, IL.
