K

enneth Harrison Duckett, 93, of Annapolis, died June 19 at Ginger Cove Health Center. He was born April 11, 1918 in Davidsonville. Mr. Duckett served in the U.S. Army during World War II under General George Patton in Company C of the 3rd Chemical Mortar Batallion. He received the Bronze Star for heroic achievement in connection with military operations near Bastogne, Belgium. In 1946, Mr. Duckett founded the Arundel Rug Cleaners which he continued operating until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 70 years and was well known for his expert woodworking skills. Mr. Duckett was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Helen Grimes Duckett, a son, G. Scott Duckett and a grandson, K. Michael Duckett. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Wilson and his wife, Anita, of Ketchikan, AK and Stephen Duckett and his wife, Kathy, of Annapolis; one daughter, Fay Martin and her husband, Thomas, of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Jo Duckett of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren, Thomas (Elizabeth) Martin, Kelly Martin, Katie (Aaron) Boone, Brian and Brady Duckett, Kara (Christopher) McLendon, Joshua (Ashley) Duckett and Jenilee Duckett; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Clayton and her husband, James; a brother, George Duckett and his wife, Joan; a sister-in-law, Estelle Hall; and a brother-in-law, Oscar Grimes, and his wife, Jean, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1300 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Annapolis followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD.
