K

enneth Leon Hettenhouser, 67, a ten year resident of Ocean Pines and formerly of Mayo, died unexpectedly at home on January 6. Born January 19, 1947 in Washington, DC to the late Joseph L. Hettenhouser and the late Annie M. (Gardner) Dove, he attended Annapolis area schools until his enlistment in the Army in 1964. He served in the Army until 1967, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Sharpshooter (Rifle M14) Medal. He also served as a General Vehicle Repairman. Kenny was a member of the American Legion Post #226. In his spare time, he enjoyed cars, restoring old cars and attending car shows. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger days with the ‘Boozers’ in Mayo. He also liked hanging out at the American Legion Post #226 and the Bayside Inn in Mayo. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Larry Hettenhouser. Kenny is survived by one son, Christopher R. Hettenhouser of Edgewater; one daughter, Lynn M. Poknis of Edgewater; four brothers, Nicky, Ronnie and Steve Hettenhouser of MO and Duane Brashears of Arnold; one grandson, Kenneth P. Hettenhouser of Edgewater; three granddaughters, Natalie L., Madelyn A. and Abigail L. Poknis, all of Edgewater. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
