Kermit Frye - Obituary

ermit L. Frye Jr., age 73, a twenty five year resident of Annapolis, MD and formerly of New Carrollton, died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on June 11, 1937 in Washington, D.C., Kermit was the son of late Kermit L. Frye, Sr. of Taylorstown, VA and Helen Durden Frye of Hawkinsville, GA. Kermit earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in 1960. He began his career with the Washington sales office of the Ford Motor Co. He then worked for the Federal Government at the General Services Administration, and in 1995 retired from the Defense National Stockpile, Defense Logistical Agency, as the Director of Stockpile Operations. Kermit was predeceased by his wife, Diane Meier Frye, his high school sweetheart, who he married in 1958. He is survived by a son, Donald K. Frye of Eldersburg, MD, a daughter, Donna L. Kanahele of Orange County, CA, a brother, David W. Frye of Annapolis, MD and five grandchildren. Over the years he and his best friend, his late wife Diane, enjoyed life to the fullest travelling, golfing, motorcycling, boating, scuba diving, skiing, attending NASCAR races and especially spending time with their family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Riva Trace Baptist Church, 475 Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
