Kevin R. Reppenhagen - Obituary

A

little bit about my best friend… I don’t want to talk about how Kevin passed, but rather how he lived. First and foremost, Kevin loved the Lord and was deeply spiritual. Kevin was a very special person, he loved life and lived life on his terms. If you knew him, you would know this. Kevin had an infectious laugh, boyish charm and was fiercely loyal. He was a boy scout with numerous badges and was an excellent marksman with a rifle. He had a lifelong passion for martial arts and achieved the rank of 7th degree blackbelt in Kenpo Karate, becoming known as the “Kenpo Cowboy”. He also loved to cook and had worked as a chef in his early years until he found his true love, photography. Kevin worked for Olan Mills Church and Road Crew where he would go from town to town, and photograph families for different church directories and was consistently in the top ten of Olan Mills sales. Kevin decided to leave Olan Mills and start his own company in 1989. He quickly became very popular and achieved many accolades and won numerous national and international awards for his. I joined Kevin in the business in 1992 and he taught me to become a skilled photographer. Through the years, we traveled to incredible places, photographing events including three presidential Inaugural Balls, photographing the president of the United States at the White House, the entire 3rd infantry division, the Presidential Guard, countless celebrities all over the country including Hawaii, to name a few. Kevin wrote a book called “First Chance of Expression” and loved teaching and sharing his wealth of knowledge of photography. I could go on and on though it is difficult to fit more than forty years of being with my dearest friend into a few paragraphs. I will say that there is an immense void in my life and I know day by day the pain of this great loss will slowly subside. Kevin would want all of us to live with passion, love with conviction and always be kind. I love you buddy, I miss you terribly and will see you again someday. A celebration of life for Kevin is being planned for some time around his birthday in February. Please check for details once they have been determined.
