Kevin Francis Sullivan - Obituary

K

evin Francis Sullivan, 67, of Greenbelt Maryland, unexpectedly passed away on September 7th, 2023, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He was the youngest of 7 children, born on October 5th, 1955, to James and Lorraine Sullivan at Doctors Hospital in Washington DC. Kevin graduated from Suitland High School in 1973. In 1974, he became a member of the Steamfitters UA Local 602. During that time, Kevin performed the duties of Recording Secretary and in 2003 was elected Business Agent and continued to perform the duties of Business Agent until his retirement in 2015. Kevin’s passions included golfing (especially with his Thursday group, The Squires), hiking, kayaking, dancing, and making stained glass. He was an avid Ravens and Nationals fan, attending games with friends whenever the opportunity arose. Kevin was dedicated to his recovery over the last 33 years, deeply valued his role in the recovery community, and lived as an example and source of support to those seeking help. Above all else, Kevin loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved children and grandchildren. Kevin will be remembered for his radiant smile and his clever sense of humor. He created a sense of safety and dependability for his children that will be deeply missed. Kevin was the first person to offer help when anyone was in need. He was also quite popular for his moves and presence on the dance floor. Kevin is survived by his children Leslie Gibbons and Sean Sullivan, his son-in-law Charley Gibbons, his grandchildren Jack, Ryder, and Eli Gibbons, and his siblings Maureen Sullivan, Kathleen Sullivan, Jimmy Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, and John Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Lorraine Sullivan, and his brother Tommy Sullivan. A celebration of Life will take place on October 15th, 2023, from 1 PM-4 PM at The Atreeum at Soaring Timbers, 610 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. In lieu of flowers or donations, Leslie and Sean ask that you memorialize Kevin by trying something new. Go dancing, kayaking, or travel to somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit, and think of him. Live like Kevin. Please leave a condolence for the family by signing the guestbook at the Memories tab located on the left side of this page.
