K

onstantinos “Kostas” Toumanidis, 75, a 40-year resident of Annapolis, died on September 23, 2014 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on March 17, 1939 in Greece to the late Iakovos and Isaia Toumanidis, Kostas was educated in Greece and served in the Greek Army. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1974 to pursue the American Dream. Kostas worked for the Annapolis Housing Authority for more than 25 years as a maintenance carpenter and providing resident support until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Kostas had a great sense of humor and enjoyed gardening, music and his fig trees. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. Kostas is survived by his wife, Katina Toumanidis; one son, Chris Toumanidis of Baltimore; one daughter, Kleopatra Chiras of Crownsville; two granddaughters, Casey Godar and Elena Chiras; and four brothers and four sisters who reside in Greece. Friends are invited to Kostas’s Life Celebration from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 26 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27 at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD.
