L. Douglas "Doug" Goode - Obituary

L. Douglas “Doug” Goode, age 100 and a 34 year resident of Annapolis who previously lived in Silver Spring, died of natural causes on September 2, 2023. Born in Maddox, MD on November 10, 1922 to the late Douglas F. and Dora Goode, he graduated from Margaret Brent High School in Helen, MD. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a gunner in B24’s during the Pacific Theater, being honorably discharged in 1946. He then worked for 25 years as a general contractor. He was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Crownsville, and enjoyed walking his dog, carpentry and working around his house. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Betty R. Goode; two brothers and three sisters. Doug is survived by his daughter, Deborah (husband Richard Frank) Goode of Annapolis; grandchildren Steven Carroll, Robert Frank and Rebecca Frank Williams (husband Mike); three great grandchildren, and a sister, Jean Goode Stahl (husband Robert) of Willow Valley, PA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 10:30 AM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, with burial to follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug’s name may be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403.
