obert Lee McKitrick, “Bob”, 98, of Oxon Hill, MD, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 1, 2025.
He was born in Plain City, OH in 1927 and is the son of Graydon and Ada Schuster McKitrick. He grew up with his brother, William, helping on the family farm on Delaware County Line Road in Marysville. After he graduated from Magnetic Springs High School in 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Afterward, he graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950, then returned to the Navy as an officer. He retired from the Navy in 1972 and worked at his alma mater for six years. He then moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for the Urban Institute, retiring in 1989. He and his wife, Mickey McKitrick, often returned to Magnetic Springs High School reunions, as well as traveled across America for Navy ship reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Mickey McKitrick; his two sons, Alan and Scott (Lisa) McKitrick; three stepchildren, Jan, Jami and Daniel (Bridget) Moss; grandchildren, Andrew “AJ” McKitrick and the late Tabitha Howden.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob's Life Celebration on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Oxon Hill United Methodist Church, 6400 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
