L

amont Dexter Vermillion, 69, a 15-year resident of Rio, WV and previously of Charles County, MD, died on December 21, 2010 at George Washington University Hospital from complications due to Kidney Cancer Surgery Born March 17, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late Martin(Bones) and Lucy(Pretty) Vermillion, he was employed as truck driver for the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD for 35 years. Lamont was an avid outdoorsman, Gun collector and passionate Redskins Fan. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda J Vermillion; his children, Edward Knudsen of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Richard Vermillion of Edgewater, MD, Martin (Betty Jo)Vermillion of Davidsonville MD, Laurie (Gene) Hardesty of Upper Marlboro, MD and Brenda Hirst of Del Ray, WV; his siblings, Martin Vermillion of North Carolina, Herbert Vermillion of LaPlata, MD and Margot Cabral of Pekin, IL. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Lamont was predeceased by his son, Donald Knudsen in July 1995 and a grandson, Edward Knudsen in April 2010. Friends are invited to Lamont’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 6:00pm until his memorial service begins at 7:30pm. Interment private.
