aura, age 51, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at her home in Waldorf, Maryland on Sunday, June 8, 2014. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on December 6, 1962, to Steven and Mildred Besserman. Laura graduated from Piggott High School in 1982. A few months later she married Dennis Owens on July 31, 1982. Laura was primarily a homemaker and worked at various locations in Piggott, Arkansas over the next three years or so. She became a military wife in October 1985 when Dennis joined the U.S. Air Force. Laura and Dennis started out their military life at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois in February 1986. She gave birth to her first son, Adam, at the base hospital on November 21, 1986. In 1990, Laura moved from a two-bedroom housing unit to a three-bedroom in preparation for the arrival of their daughter, Morgan, who was born just a few miles down the road from the base at Urbana, Illinois on November 29, 1990. In April 1993, Laura moved to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX where she gave birth to Matthew at the Wilford Hall Medical Center on November 29, 1993. In April 1995, she moved to Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal and resided there for the next two years. In June 1997 she moved to Luke Air Force Base, AZ and lived there for the next four plus years. The last year in Arizona, Laura had to take on the role of mom and dad while the Air Force sent Dennis to a remote assignment to Alaska. Laura, Adam, Morgan, Matthew and Dennis were reunited in Jan 2002 and headed off to Elmendorf Air Force, AK where they resided for the next four years. In June 2006, she and her family started a long journey from Anchorage, AK to Fort Walton Beach Florida. Laura and her family and Chance (There dog) spent the next four weeks traveling through Alaska, Canada via the Alaskan-Canadian (ALCAN) Highway and across the United States visiting many sites and friends and family until their arrival at Hurlburt Field, FL. In October 2009, she and her family made their last military move to Andrews Air Force Base, MD. First, Laura was a child of God and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Second, she was a devoted wife and mother. Last, Laura served her country honorably as a military wife and mother for over 27 years and received a certificate of dedication from the U.S. Air Force. Laura was preceded in death by her youngest brother Lloyd Besserman. Her surviving siblings are; Randy and Rodney Besserman of Piggott, AR, Lynn Davis of Blaine, TN, and Rochelle Bland of Corning, AR. Laura, we thank God for the time we had with you here on earth. We miss you greatly, but we know God had bigger plans for you. We will see you again!!! Your family and friends…
