Laura Sheldon - Obituary

HELDON, LAURA DAWN, age 50, of Annapolis, MD, passed away February 28, 2014 surrounded by loved ones at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Laura had battled valiantly against lung cancer since May of 2013. Laura was so brave during her illness and always had a positive attitude, she fought with great courage. Laura never lost her sense of humor and her beautiful smile was there until the end. Laura was born November 29, 1963 in Faribault, MN to Donald C. Sheldon and Helen (Shields) Marple. Having grown up in Minnesota, Laura never lost her Midwestern values. Her profession was as an accountant but her dedication to her family and friends was her most important mission. Laura never met a person, an animal or a plant that she didn't nurture. Her love of travel took her to all 50 states, many European countries, Scandinavia especially Norway where she was able to connect with relatives from her father's side of the family. Her last trip was to Hawaii which she took between chemotherapy treatments in January. In addition to her parents, Laura leaves behind a young son Lauson (son of Laura) Charles Sheldon, a dear sister Danielle Sheldon (Justin Nimmo) of Annapolis, step-brothers C. Scott Marple Jr. (Carolyn) of Knoxville, TN, Christopher Marple (Cathy) of Yorktown, VA, David Marple of Annapolis, MD and many other relatives and dear friends. Laura was preceded in death by her beloved step-father, C. Scott Marple. A celebration of Laura's life will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a Trust which has been established at Sandy Spring Bank, made payable to the Laura D. Sheldon Trust and mailed to the Laura D. Sheldon Trust, 30 Woodlawn Ave., Annapolis, MD 21401.
