Lawrence Griest - Obituary

awrence Harold Griest, Sr., "Butch", "Larry", an 8-year resident of Lothian, died October 9, 2013 at his home of lung cancer after a 6 month illness. He was 70. Born October 14, 1942, he graduated from Bladensburg High School. Butch served in the United States Air Force. He was employed, as a deli manager, at Grand Union and Shoppers Food supermarkets. Larry enjoyed fishing, boating, playing cards, woodworking, bowling and travelling. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra True. Butch is survived by his wife, Janice Griest, whom he married on September 10, 1983; four children, Lawrence Griest, Jr. and his wife, Amy, Donnie Williams, Donna Dolina and her husband, John and Debra Ripple and her husband, Gary; eight grandsons, John, Jr., Christopher and Corey Dolina, Michael, Jr. and Jason Welch, Jeremy Ripple and Lawrence, III and Brandon Griest; and 5 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. Friends are invited to Mr. Griest's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Sunday, October 13 from 1pm until funeral service begins at 3pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway,Pasadena, MD 21122.
