Lawrence A. Middleton - Obituary

O

n January 13th, 2022, Lawrence Alpheus Middleton was greeted with loving arms, to his eternal rest by his beloved parents, the late George Alpheus and Fannie Marie Middleton. There joining the welcoming party, were his sisters Jane Middleton and Bernice Blackwell, along with a brother, Nathan Middleton who preceded him in death. Lawrence was born on November 4th, 1950 in Northumberland County, Virginia. He was raised in a Christian household and was baptized at the Galilee United Methodist Church of Heathsville, Virginia. Lawrence was educated in the Northumberland County school system and graduated from Northumberland High School in 1972. After high school, Lawrence moved to Washington, D.C., where he was employed and retired after many years, as the Parts Department Manager at the Curtis Chevrolet in Washington, D.C. On June 8th, 1974, Lawrence married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Patricia “Tricia” Eskridge of Heathsville, Virginia. To this union, two lovely daughters were born, Tanya, who he affectionately called “T” and Denise, affectionately known as “Boo.” Life really changed for the better, when Tanya gave birth to his only grandson and main man, Juwan “Lump” Middleton. Lawrence being a family man, would befriend many and made others felt like family as well. Very active in his younger years, Lawrence could be found outside playing softball and that lasted well into his thirties. Being an avid outdoorsman, he found an exuberant passion for hunting, fishing training and breeding champion hounds. Having such an infectious smile, Lawrence loved to make jokes, tease and make family members and friends feel at ease. Willing to go the extra mile for others, he would bring coolers of fish home from trips to his Independence Avenue neighbors, assist in moving efforts with his beloved pickup truck, helping his elderly neighbors with groceries and other essentials and even gather his daughters’ friends for trips to the “county”, the beach, softball games and even to this hunting club meetings. Later in life, Lawrence could be found traveling with his wife to the casinos. However, wherever Lawrence went, Juwan “Lump” shadowed. Lawrence loved being in the woods, running with the dogs. It was no shock when he became an active member and Treasurer for the Maryland Nite Hunter Association. While participating in the hunting club well into his sixties, he made many memories and future family members. He was blessed to have a few close-knit friends, who also enjoyed traveling and hunting as well. Special thank you to Lance, Charles M., Craig, Marcus and George, who preceded him in death. When he called, they were always there… He leaves to forever cherish his loving memories, his wife Patricia Middleton, daughters Tanya Campbell and Denise Middleton. His best buddy and grandson, Juwan Middleton, beloved son in-love Jamal Campbell. Two brothers Gregory O’Neil (Loretta) and George O’Brian (Connie) Middleton. Three nieces raised like siblings, Gail (Cornell), Carol and Carla Middleton, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Lawrence's Life Celebration on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at 11 a.m. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745.
