awrence “Larry†James Treat, a 25 year resident of Edgewater, died on Friday November 6, 2009 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 67.
He was born July 7, 1942 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Raymond & Constance Treat. He attended high school in New Jersey. Larry served in the US Navy aboard the USS Arlington, USS Interpreter and the USS Essex. He was stationed in Oakland, CA, the Philippines and Africa and served in Vietnam during the war.
Larry worked for Lockheed Martin in quality assurance and also worked for Sears in Annapolis and helped to open the Sears store in Marley Station.
He was past Commander of the American Legion Post 226 in Mayo, where he belonged to all three men's organizations. Larry was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Annapolis, and worked at the South County Senior Center running the snack bar.
His hobbies included boating, music and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Cherami M. Wescott-Treat, whom he married in July of 1987, his children, Lawrence “Larry†J. Treat, Jr. of East Hanover, New Jersey, John J. Treat of Staten Island, NY, and Heidi Traynor of Italy;his sister Christine Siecker of Beachwood, NJ, and was predeceased by his brother Bobby Treat. Also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Larry's Life Celebration on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8:30pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, at 9:30am. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
