L

ee Millard Donovan, of Okatie, SC and previously of Annapolis, MD, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. He was born on August 26,1940 in Bethesda, MD to the late Dr. and Mrs. Leo Donovan. Lee’s banking career began in the training program at Riggs National Bank where he worked for 13 years. He was also Vice-President of Commerce Bank, Bethesda, MD; founding President of Bay National Bank, Annapolis, MD; National Enterprise Bank, Washington, DC and President of Sailors & Merchants Bank, Vienna, VA. Following a love of architecture and construction he formed a partnership, Scallan & Donovan, which purchased and renovated properties on Capitol Hill in DC. Finally, working closer to home, he established his own commercial real estate firm, Commercial Realty Services. In Annapolis, Lee served on the board of the Annapolis Symphony, Indian Creek School and the SPCA. He was the founding President of the Parole Rotary. He loved being out on the Chesapeake Bay, either sailboat racing with friends or motor boating with his family. In 2007, Lee and Cathy retired to South Carolina where they built a home and enjoyed a peaceful life in the low country of boating and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cathy; four daughters, Stacy (Thomas) Sullivan of Savannah, GA, Kendall (Jim) Galvin of Odenton, MD Megan (Travis) Swonger of Chester, MD and Devin (Jeff) Lintzenich of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren and a sister, Karen Godt,of Cleveland OH. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 26 from 2 to 5 PM at the Annapolis Yacht Club, 12 Dock Street, Annapolis, MD.
