ee Snyder Harford, 87, a 50-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Washington, DC and Lanham/Seabrook, died on June 3 at Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis. Born December 12, 1925 in Huntsville, AL, and named for her maternal grandmother, Lee and her seven siblings and parents weathered the effects of the Depression and WWII. During high school, Lee worked at the local drug store and the Huntsville public library. She graduated from Huntsville High before relocating to Birmingham, AL to complete stenotype college. Recruited to work for the Federal Government, Lee moved to Washington, DC. Her career as a trade routes examiner at the Maritime Administration spanned 35 years. Lee and her husband, Jim, loved being near the water. They built a small beach house in Port Republic, MD in the 1960s. In their later years, Lee and Jim enjoyed many seasons in Marco Island, FL. For most of her life, Lee kept up with two daily newspapers, the "Washington Post" and "Annapolis Capital." She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening (while the resident fox watched), and was an avid fan of the TV show, "Two and a Half Men." Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Vaughan T. Harford, Jr. (Jim); and six siblings: her brothers Joseph Haywood, Charles Emmett, James Elan and Ernest Larry Snyder, and sisters, Mary Viola Snyder, and Sarah Katheryne Snyder Whitaker; her parents, Elon Dow and Mary Lillian Piccolee; and her grandparents, Joseph P. and Elsie Lee Ray Piccolee, and Haywood and Laura Alice Aday Snyder. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Ann Snyder Jackson of Madison, AL.; one son, Michael Z. Harford of Edgewater; two daughters, Sherry S. Bembe (Steve) of Annapolis and Mallory B. Leimone (Tom) of Hampstead, NC; three grandchildren, James V. Harford (Joanna), Wayne T. Owens (Tara), and Joseph W. Wheeler (Lori); and great grandchildren, LeeAnna E. and twins Conner J. and Ryan V. Harford, and Patrick J.Shea. Services will be held at a later date in Huntsville, AL. Arrangements by the George P.
