Lee Jenkins - Obituary

dele “Lee” Lily Jenkins, age 102, of Annapolis, peacefully passed away on May 11, 2025. Born on April 8, 1923 in New York City, Lee was the daughter of Adele and Fernando Navas. She married Hugh Jenkins Jr. in 1944. Lee and her sister Jennie moved down to Washington DC during World War II to work for the government. They were a part of the women’s workforce known as “Washington’s World War II Government Girls”. She was known for her sharp wit, excellent dancing skills, and love of the arts. Lee was a big supporter of women’s rights, and regularly donated to causes. Lee lived with grace, generosity, and strength that uplifted those around her. Lee is survived by her daughter Michele Bruno, son Hugh Jenkins III, granddaughter Heather Garrigus, brother Fred Navas, brother Robert Navas, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh, her brother Joe Navas, and her sister Jennie Bemis. A celebration of life will be held later this year, date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to EqualityNow.org in Lee's name.
