Lee Mahoney - Obituary

ee Sheila Mahoney, a 41-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Landover, died on February 24 in Edgewater after being involved in an accident. She was 73. Born December 21, 1940 in Atlantic City, NJ, to the late Rose Smith and Oscar Braer, she graduated from Northwestern High School. Lee was a homemaker and also worked doing childcare. She also worked at the former W-5 market in Edgewater for many years. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, shopping, reading and walking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Braer; one sister, Bernice Harris; and one grandson, Bradley Pike II. Lee is survived by her husband, John Patrick Mahoney, whom she married on May 17, 1968; two sons, Josh Ledbetter of Edgewater and James Mahoney of Severn; two daughters, Susan Turner of Edgewater and Jeri Ledbetter-Hinckly of Dallas, NC; a brother, Marc Braer of Glendale, AZ; a sister, Elaine Ritchey of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Turner, Kimberli and Kelli Pike, Charlie Lamb, Kristina Snaden and Devin Frazier-Mahoney; and three great-grandchildren, Madalynn Cook, Alanna Hegarty and Presley Snaden. Friends are invited to Lee's Life Celebration on Sunday, March 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater , where a funeral service will held on Monday, March 3 at 1pm. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
