eonard Oswell Fears, III, 66, passed away suddenly at his place of employment on Friday, September 7, 2018. Born on February 5, 1952, in Charlottesville, VA, to Muriel Fears and the late Leonard O. Fears, Jr. A longtime resident of Winchester, VA, Leonard attended John Handley High School. He served in the Merchant Marines and traveled the world. Afterward, he moved to Middleburg, VA and began his career as a home builder. Leonard ultimately settled in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and worked as a contractor for the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He traveled extensively through his work and personal ventures, with many friends in this area and around the world and particularly loved telling stories of his travels and adventures. His favorite pastime was spending time on the Chesapeake on his jet ski or aboard his new boat.
In addition to his mother, Leonard is survived by his siblings, Deborah of Edgewater, MD and Jonathan of Severna Park; and a nephew, Jon.
A memorial service to celebrate Leonard's life will be held at a later date.
