eonard Wayne Stevens, 69, of Huntingtown, MD, died on March 26, 2009 at Hospice of the Chesapeake Mandrin House in Harwood, MD from a Glio Blastoma Multiforme (GBM) brain tumor; beloved husband of Cheryl Lynn Stevens, former husband of Judith Stevens and the late Sue Heflin Stevens; son of the late William Leonard and Cecelia Herbert Stevens; proud father of Christopher Stevens (Karen) of Annapolis, Connie Canfield (Ed) of Mechanicsville, Craig Stevens (Cheryl) of Laurel; special stepfather of Jennifer Marshall (fiancé Erik Zinger) of Newtown, PA, Joanne Marshall (fiancé Joel Baker) of Baltimore and Jordan Marshall of New Hope, PA; loving brother of Herbert Stevens (Margaret) of Dade City, FL and Suzanne Morrison (Bill) of Silver Spring and brother-in-law of Nell Stevens of Dade City, FL. Proud of all of his grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Luke and Annamarie Stevens, Taylor DeVille and Ian Canfield. Wayne graduated from Anacostia High School in 1958 where he learned the printing trade from teacher and friend, Mr. Lamb. Wayne was a well-respected printer in the Washington, DC area, retiring in 2006. He loved spending time with family and friends and looked forward to their visits to his home in Mt. Ida, Arkansas where he planned to retire. Wayne was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard Reserves and was a member of Calvert Elks Lodge #2620 in Prince Frederick, MD. Wayne rescued cats! The latest was Brisco; the largest, his prized Detomaso Pantera. Wayne leaves numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends with smiles, laughter, love and kindness. Family and friends are welcome to attend the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, April 17, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Jesus the Good Shepherd, 1601 W. Mt. Harmony Rd., Owings, MD 20736. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy, Annapolis, MD 21401.
