sheville - Leslie Anne Sullivan Richardson, 79, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Givens Estates Health Center in Asheville with her family by her side. She was born April 1, 1938 in Jamestown, RI to the late Phillip and Grace Sullivan. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Sullivan and two brothers, Duke Sullivan and David Sullivan. On August 12, 1961, Leslie married the love of her life, Daniel C. Richardson in Newport, RI. Together they celebrate over 56 wonderful years of marriage as she and Dan traveled the World as a Navy family. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at various medical facilities, often as the Director of Nursing or state inspector. Above all, she was a devoted wife, supporting her husband's Naval career and raising their children. She was always a leader in her high school, college (University of Rhode Island), sorority (Chi Omega), nursing, and of course her involvement in church and Navy wives organizations. She went everywhere her husband was stationed, at times, able to take daylong submarine cruises, aircraft carrier catapult takeoffs and aircraft carrier arrested landings. Except for white sand beaches around the World, her greatest love was for her family, whom she loved to cook for and spend time with as she inculcated them with the love and joy of life.. In addition to her beloved husband, Dan, she is survived by her children, Daniel Jackson Richardson and his wife, Karen Le Hew, of Marshall, NC, Jill Cooper of Chino Hill, CA and Jane Richardson of West Chester, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lauren Copenhaver, Kelly Cooper, Daniel Cooper, Karalyn Berman, Kathryn Berman and Jackson Berman and great-grandchildren, Kahlan Copenhaver, Everly Copenhaver and Luke Copenhaver. Leslie's funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 10am at St. Andrew's Chapel at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Interment immediately following at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
