Lester Cantler - Obituary

ester “Buddy” Cantler, 76, a lifetime resident of Annapolis died on May 22, 2011 at his home. Born on February 26, 1935 in Annapolis, MD, to the late Louis and Elizabeth Cantler, Buddy served in the United States Army. When Buddy was younger, he worked as a waterman, but for the last 37 years he worked at Cantler’s Restaurant. He was a member of the Waterman’s Association and the American Legion. Buddy loved fishing, enjoyed sports, playing pool, his dogs, Smokey and Lady and spending time with family and friends. Buddy is survived by 5 brothers, Donny Cantler of Hooper’s Island, Lewis Cantler, Jimmy Cantler, George Cantler and Eric Cantler, all of Annapolis; 6 sisters, Rae Schnoor of Ingleside, Mary Cantler of Los Angeles, CA, Marie Black of Harwood, Ronnie Parkinson of Annapolis, Rae “Sissy” Caldwell of Riva and Catherine “Cathie” Cantler of Edgewater. Also survived by 36 nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to Buddy’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 12pm to 1:30pm. Interment private.
