etty Williams (formerly Ruff), 66, a 6-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Davidsonville, MD, died on August 8, 2009 in an aviation crash in Tanneytown, MD. Born on April 26, 1943 in Abilene, KS, Letty graduated with a bachelors of arts degree from Kansas State University and a masters degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She was a program manager for Ward Solutions, Inc. specializing in information security. She also taught information security classes at Johns Hopkins University. Letty was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville and the Christian Community Presbyterian Church in Bowie, MD. She also was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, held a scuba certification and was working toward her pilot's license. In addition to her aviation interests, which included skydiving, Letty enjoyed teaching, literature, travel, aquatics, gardening and dancing, and loved family, friends and always learning. She will be remembered as an exceptional woman, mother and friend as well as a dedicated colleague. She had a zest for life coupled with a pragmatic sense and was always willing to lend her generous spirit and sense of humor. Letty lived life to the fullest and touched those she loved deeply; she will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Letty is survived by her former husband, Michael Ruff of Wilmington, NC; two sons: Brian Ruff of Edgewater and Eric Ruff of Crofton, MD; one daughter-in-law, Kara Stephenson of Edgewater, five grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Dallas, Carter, Conor and Marshal; one brother John J. Williams III; two nephews: John C. Williams and Tommy Williams; one niece, Elizabeth Locke and her step-mother, Myrtle Williams of New Ulm, Minn. Friends are invited to Letty's Life Celebration on Thursday, August 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14 at 11 a.m. at the Christian Community Presbyterian Church, 3120 Belair Drive, Bowie, MD. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter – Southern Maryland Branch – 8338 Veterans Highway, Suite 103A, Millersville, MD 21108.
