ewis Ellwood Ward, “Speedy”, a 47-year resident of Clinton, MD, died at his home on Monday, February 17, 2014. He was 68.
Speedy was born on November 7, 1945 in Washington, D.C. to the late Jesse M. and Lydia H. Ward. He was a 1963 graduate of Anacostia High School and worked at the Washington Post for 30 years as a mailer. He was a member of the Washington Mailers Union 29/CWA 14201. Lewis loved his dogs, working in his garage and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Tristan.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Eleanor C. Ward of Clinton, MD, two daughters; Reita Ward of North Beach, MD and Lou Ward of Falls Church, VA., his sons in law, Jeff, Tim and Medi. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa, Ethan, Atalie, and Brielle.
Friends may call on Saturday from 12 noon until his memorial service begins at 2pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment private.
