loyd “Shorty” Breitweiser Draper, 92, a 19-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Landover Hills, MD died August 27, 2009 at his home of Alzheimer's/Dementia after a 5 year illness. Born October 12, 1916 at home in N.E. Washington, D.C, he attended school in Washington, D.C. He was employed as a Forman Machinist for 44 years at Washington/Tri-State Envelope Company. Mr. Draper served in the United States Navy during WWII and still continued to attend his WWII USS Breeman DE104 Navy reunions each year. He attended Landover Hills Baptist Church and enjoyed helping with crafts at vacation bible school. Lloyd loved his family, crafts (making objects out of shells, pine cones, etc.), fishing at Fletcher Boat House and in the Outer Banks of Nags Head, NC, and was a Redskins fan; having season tickets for 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor B. Draper, whom he married on July 2, 1950; two daughters, Bonnie M. Draper of Annapolis, MD and Linda Draper-Gaddis of Harrisonburg, VA; four grandchildren, Jason, Laura, Kristen and Jessica Gaddis. Relatives and friends are invited to Lloyd's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday, August 30 from 2 to 4pm and at Landover Hills Baptist Church, 4420 73rd Ave, Landover Hills, MD on Monday, August 31 from 10 until funeral service begins at 11am. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Landover Hills Baptist Church-Youth Mission Trip, 4420 73rd Ave, Landover Hills, MD 20784.
