loyd Kitt Stimson, age 89, a retired education administrator and personnel management administrator with the U. S. Department of Agriculture died, on June 8, 2024, of a heart attack at his home in Fort Washington where he had lived since 1971. He was the son of the late Lloyd Keith and Isabella (Smith - from Airdrie, Scotland) Stimson of Milford. NH. Mr. Stimson, who was born February 14, 1935, in Nashua, NH, was a 1962 graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where he received a BS degree in mathematics education. He also earned a MEd degree in adult education from Memphis State University in Memphis, TN in 1973. While attending Memphis State University, Stimson was elected into Kappa Delta Pi, the National Education Honor Society. Mr. Stimson served in the U. S. Marine Corps during and after the Korean conflict. He was an aviation electronics technician with Marine Fighter Squadron VMF-312. During the school year of 1961-62, Mr. Stimson taught mathematics at the Milford, NH Junior High School. At the conclusion of the school year, he accepted a position as an education specialist with the U. S. Armed Forces Institute, Europe in Frankfurt, Germany. He remained in that position through 1968. Between 1968 and 1971, Stimson was employed as an education specialist at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, TN. In the fall of 1971, Stimson accepted an employee development specialist position with the Office of Personnel, U. S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC. From 1976-85, he served as a personnel management specialist with the Department’s Office of Personnel. He retired as a training and education administrator in June 1991 while employed with USDA’s Farmers Home Administration. Stimson was an avid sports fan. He coached baseball, football, and basketball for the Fort Washington Area Boys & Girls Club; was a season ticket holder with the NHL Washington Capitals ice hockey team ; and, although a high-handicapper, he was an avid golfer. He served on the Board of Advisors at Tantallon Country Club in Fort Washington, was the seniors chairman of the Club, and was the Club’s representative for the Maryland Interclub Seniors Golf Association. His greatest sports joy was to see the Boston Red Sox win the 2004 World Series. In addition, he enjoyed an appropriate libation with his friends while watching Washington football games on TV. Stimson was a member of the American Legion (Ricciardi-Hartshorn Post 23, Milford, NH); the Marine Corps Aviation Association; Marine Corps League (Capital Marines); Marine Corps Association; the Wolfpack Club and Alumni Association of N.C. State University; and the Tiger Club and Alumni Association of Memphis University. His marriage to Antonie Marie Kling, of Kaiserslautern, Germany ended in divorce. Survivors include his wife Linda Marie Brick, of Fort Washington, whom he married in 1986; two sons and a daughter from his first marriage, Michael P. Stimson of McLean, VA, Theodore K. Stimson of Front Royal, VA, and Ingrid M. George of Front Royal, VA; sister Cynthia A. Morehead of Findlay, OH; and seven grandchildren, Victoria Stimson and Grace Stimson of Auroa, IL, George Stimson and Serine Stimson of Mclean, VA, and Hannah Stimson and Niklas Stimson of Front Royal, VA; Emma George of Front Royal, VA and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Pamela W. Waters. Relatives and friends are invited Kitt's Life Celebration on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 2 to 4 P.M. at KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745.
