Lois M. Ward - Obituary

ois M. Ward, 84, a 23-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Annapolis, MD, passed away on July 29, 2022 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on September 12, 1937 to the late Gilbert and Jennie Hudkins, Lois graduated from Nicholas County High School in Summersville, WV. She moved to Maryland in 1963. While raising a family of five children, Lois enjoyed a career in retail sales. She retired from J.C. Penney in 2002. She liked being involved in the community as well and was a member of the VFW Post 304 Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, John Ward who passed away in 1999; two brothers, Jesse and Alden Hudkins; her sister, Louise Mullia and three grandsons, Christopher Cook and Michael and Kevin Hall. She is survived by two sons, Robert Davis of Effingham, SC and James Davis of Annapolis, MD; three daughters, Cynthia Hall of Calabash, NC, Rose Davis of Annapolis, MD and Vicki Shields of Lindwood, NC; nine grandchildren, Steve Cook, Devin Davis, Megan Montgomery, Max Davis, Jennie Hall, Nikki Paddy, Justin Paddy, Brooke Lawson and James Lawson; two brothers, Charles and Eugene Hudkins and one sister, Mertie Rakosy. Lois is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis.
